Grossular

Grossular is a member of the garnet group of minerals. It is composed of calcium aluminum silicate and occurs in a variety of colors, including green, yellow, brown, and even colorless. Grossular garnets can be found in metamorphic rocks or as a product of contact metamorphism. The gem quality varieties, especially the green ones known as 'Tsavorite', are highly valued.
